Singapore’s Changi Airport registered a 15.8% year-on-year increase in arrivals from China in the June 2025 quarter – providing a significant boost to airport traffic during the period.
While some Southeast Asian nations – including Thailand and the Philippines – have suffered a decline in Chinese tourism in recent months, Singapore is trending in the opposite direction with China currently its top visitor source market when it comes to arrivals by air. Indonesia ranks second, up 12.0% year-on-year, with Jakarta and Shanghai the fastest growing among Changi’s top 10 cities.
Releasing its 2Q25 operating indicators on Tuesday, Changi Airport Group said the total 17.5 million passenger movements recorded for the period represented 5.9% year-on-year growth with China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and India ranking as the top five international markets. Aircraft movements, including landings and take-offs, totalled 93,600 for the quarter – up 4.9% compared to the same period last year.
“We continue to see healthy growth in passenger traffic this quarter, supported by steady demand across key markets,” said Lim Ching Kiat, Changi Airport Group’s Executive Vice President for Air Hub and Cargo Development.
“Notably, traffic to and from China and Indonesia recorded particularly strong growth in the second quarter, demonstrating our ongoing efforts to boost travel demand in the region. Together with our airline partners, we strive to establish more connections for passengers to travel to new and exciting destinations.”
Changi Airport Group said that, as of 1 July 2025, there were 100 airlines operating over 7,200 weekly scheduled flights at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to 170 cities in 50 countries and territories worldwide.
