Leading Thai mainstream media outlet The Bangkok Post has published an opinion piece by IAG’s Vice Chairman and CEO Andrew W Scott providing a detailed explanation of what an entertainment complex actually is.

The full opinion piece can be viewed here: https://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/3048541/time-to-rethink-the-casino-debate

Title “Time to rethink the casino debate”, the piece further builds on the fact-based narrative that IAG is working to establish in Thailand in the wake of the Thailand Entertainment Complex Roundtable (TECR) held in Bangkok on 5 June 2025.

Key points of the piece include that an entertainment complex is not a casino, that they are vast economic engines that can truly move a society’s economic needle, and that they can in fact help drive problem gambling rates down – particularly in countries that do not previously offer a regulated gaming environment.

As previously reported by IAG, TECR – which took place at the prestigious Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok – was attended by approximately 40 local media representatives. Within hours of the event concluding, more than a dozen articles had been published across local media and this has been growing by the day.

TECR brought together for the first time influential voices from both sides of the equation for a respectful and informative discussion on entertainment complexes.
