For years, world-class footballers have been the face of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Stars like Zlatan Ibrahimović, Neymar, Messi and Kylian Mbappé thrilled fans with dazzling performances and consistent triumphs in Ligue 1. The squad’s lineup of star newcomers ensured PSG’s dominance in domestic competitions, helping the club become the most decorated team in French football history, with 13 Ligue 1 titles, 16 Coupe de France victories and 13 Trophée des Champions wins to date.

But above all, the management of PSG – an official partner of global betting company 1xBet – always had its sights set on success in the international arena. Les Parisiens had never won the Champions League title in, which is the true symbol of entry into European football’s elite. However, for a long time, the team fell literally just a few steps away from their dream.

In the 2023/2024 season, PSG launched a global restructuring. The new coach, Luis Enrique, began transforming the team of stars into a star team. Now, only young and talented footballers are on the French giant’s scouts’ shortlists: Willian Pacho, Lucas Beraldo, Désiré Doué, Nuno Mendes and Bradley Barcola. Everything was going well, but in his first season at Parc des Princes, coach Enrique couldn’t overcome Borussia Dortmund’s resistance in the Champions League semifinal.

The 2024/2025 European campaign began disappointingly for PSG: in the first five rounds of the league phase, Les Parisiens had just one win and were on the verge of crashing out of the tournament. Nevertheless, at the crucial moment, Enrique managed to rally his disheartened squad and launch a phenomenal comeback. PSG picked up nine points in the final three group stage matches and caught the last train. Once in the playoff stage, Les Rouge et Bleu had no equal: they steamrolled Brest and then knocked out three English Premier League representatives – Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal.

In the Champions League final, PSG clashed with Inter – the team that had sensationally knocked out the seemingly unstoppable Barcelona in a thrilling two-leg showdown, eliminating the tournament’s top favorite at that time. However, on 31 May at Allianz Arena, there was only one squad shining on the pitch: from the opening seconds, the Parisian knight cornered the Milanese serpent and began tightening the noose around its neck.

By the 12th minute, Vitinha split Nerazzurri’s defense with a precise pass to Désiré Doué. He then delivered a perfect assist to Hakimi, who elegantly finished the move with an accurate shot into an empty net. Eight minutes later, Doué received a pass from Ousmane Dembélé and fired a powerful shot into the near corner. The ball deflected off Federico Dimarco and ended up in Yann Sommer’s net. PSG kept up the pressure and the match ended with a 5-0 defeat of Inter – it’s the most significant victory ever in a Champions League final.

Les Parisiens have won the most prestigious title in club football for the first time and completed a historic treble. Until now, only one French team had ever claimed Champions League glory – in 1993, Olympique de Marseille, with Abedi Pele, Didier Deschamps, Marcel Desailly and Rudi Völler, narrowly beat Milan.

PSG, an official partner of the trusted brand 1xBet, has brought France back to the top. But there’s no time for long celebrations – the team kicks off its Club World Cup campaign on 15 June, facing Atlético in the first round.

The Club World Cup is the main sports event of this summer, and millions of players around the world will be betting on the matches of this tournament.
