Macau’s average hotel occupancy rate rose by 4.7 percentage points year-on-year to 87.8% in April, with the number of guests increasing by 3.4% to 1.2 million.
According to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), there were 147 hotel establishments providing accommodation services to the public as of the end of April, an increase of four establishments compared to the same time a year earlier. However, the number of available rooms decreased by 4.3% to 45,000.
The average hotel occupancy rate of 87.8% in April include an occupancy rate of 90.9% in five-star hotels, up 6.2 percentage points year-on-year.
The number of hotel guests in April increased by 3.4% year-on-year to 1.2 million, with mainland Chinese guests accounting for the largest share at 861,000, up 4.5% year-on-year.
International guests numbered 106,000, also recording a 12.3% increase, with South Korean guests accounting for the largest share at 25,000, up 3.1% year-on-year. However, Malaysia and Indonesia both recorded slight declines by 3.1% and 0.1% respectively.
In the first four months of 2025 combined, the average hotel occupancy rate increased by 5.1 percentage points to 89.6%. The number of guests decreased by 3.2% year-on-year to 4.8 million, while the average length of stay held steady at 1.7 nights.
