Newport World Resorts (NWR) says it is strengthening its online gaming system and platform in response to rising competition in the sector as it looks to claim a slice of the Philippines’ Php200 billion online pie.
The company outlined its efforts in a Philippine Stock Exchange filing on Wednesday, where it said the enhanced platform would ensure NWR is “able to compete in the online gaming segment of the Philippine gaming industry.”
This follows recent confirmation from Solaire operator Bloomberry Resorts Corp that it would launch its online platform by June and Okada Manila operator Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment, Inc that it would focus more energy on promoting its platform.
In Wednesday’s filing, NWR noted that the Philippines’ online gaming or E-Games segment – which includes remote gaming operations based out of land-based casinos – was forecast to generate gross gaming revenue of Php200 billion in 2025.
“Newport World Resorts’ improved gaming revenue from online gaming will positively impact overall revenue of [operator] Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc and [parent] Alliance Global Group,” the company explained.
NWR recently reported a 6% year-on-year increase GGR to Php7.9 billion (US$142 million) in 1Q25 and a 42% increase in Adjusted EBITDA to Php2.1 billion (US$37.7 million), bucking the trend of declines across Manila’s integrated resorts.
