A three-vehicle collision involving a concessionaire shuttle bus and two large trucks injured about 30 people in Macau on Monday afternoon.

The collision, which occurred on Estrada de Pac On near Taipa, involved a blue concessionaire shuttle bus with a Venetian logo, a truck and a dump truck. Police told media it was initially suspected that the shuttle bus failed to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front and crashed into the truck, which then hit the dump truck.

The injured included the 39-year-old male shuttle bus driver and 29 passengers aged between 22 and 68.

The driver, who had to be rescued by firefighters after the incident, suffered a contusion on his right knee and is in stable condition, while the injured passengers sustained minor injuries.

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes explained afterwards that the shuttle bus involved in the incident was used by the company to transport passengers from the border to the hotel, and that 24 of the passengers were tourists.

She also confirmed that the travel agency that provided the shuttle bus service to the concessionaire, Sands China, is currently following up on the incident and is expected to announce more details at a later date.
