Global gaming supplier IGT has announced a series of changes to its Board of Directors and executive leadership team, with Marco Drago to step down as a non-executive director, to be replaced by Enrico Drago.

According to a lengthy announcement released overnight, Marco Drago will vacate the board position he has held since 2015 at the conclusion of IGT’s Annual General Meeting on 14 May 2024.

In assuming a board position, Enrico Drago will subsequently step down from his current role as CEO of IGT PlayDigital – a position he has held since September 2021.

Meanwhile Gil Rotem, currently IGT PlayDigital’s President of iGaming, will expand his role to become IGT PlayDigital President and report directly to Vince Sadusky, CEO of IGT.

These changes will be effective from 1 April 2024, the company said.

“As Marco Drago prepares to step down from his position on the IGT Board of Directors, I’d like to thank him for his many years of service and his unwavering commitment to driving results and creating value for all IGT stakeholders,” said Marco Sala, IGT Executive Chair of the Board.

“Enrico Drago joining the Board and leaving his executive leadership position at IGT is a natural evolution that supports the company’s vision for its next era of growth and transformation. Enrico’s value-creation mindset and understanding of global growth opportunities will enhance the Board and align with IGT’s strategic priorities.”

IGT is in the midst of a major transformation after recently announcing that its Global Gaming and PlayDigital businesses will soon merge with leading fintech and loyalty solutions provider Everi Holdings Inc as part of a multi-billion dollar deal. The spin-off will leave IGT’s Global Lottery business to operate as a “pure play” global lottery player, the company said earlier this month.
