A new Hollywood biography detailing the rise and fall of Las Vegas casino industry mogul and Wynn Resorts founder Steve Wynn is in the works, although it remains to be seen whether it debuts on the big screen or small screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production will be based on the 2018 book by Christina Binkley, titled Winner Takes All, which details the life and times of Wynn, including his rise to fame and fortune and his sudden downfall following widespread allegations of sexual misconduct in early 2018.
The book has been optioned by production firm CoverStory and will be produced by Scott Jay Kaplan and Emmet McDermott – the latter of which previously produced the Netflix documentary White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch.
Binkley will co-produce the adaptation, which The Hollywood Reporter says will mostly focus on Wynn’s rise in the 1990s and the background that laid the foundations for his eventual demise.
“We are immensely lucky to work with Christina on this larger-than-life story. And in Vegas, luck is everything,” McDermott said in a statement.
Wynn last year reached an agreement with the Nevada Gaming Commission that sees him banned from holding any position of control or authority in any publicly traded company registered with the regulator due to the 2019 allegations of sexual misconduct.
Although he has still refused to admit to any of those allegations, they nevertheless forced him to stand down as Wynn Resorts CEO at the time and later sell off his entire 12.1% stake in the company.
The Nevada Gaming Commission filed a complaint against him in 2019, claiming he had “subjected subordinate employees to unwelcome sexual advances” and jeopardized the reputation of the entire Nevada gaming industry.
