Vietnam integrated resort The Grand Ho Tram will include world-class responsible gaming practices as a central tenet of its gaming operations after this week receiving permission to allow locals play, management said Thursday.
After Inside Asian Gaming broke the news that Ho Tram has officially been added by the government to a 5-year pilot program for locals casino play, the company explained that it would take its responsible gambling responsibilities seriously by way of a Responsible Gaming Framework that it says is modeled on leading international jurisdictions such as Singapore and Macau.
This framework, Ho Tram explained, encompasses the establishment of on-site Responsible Gaming Information Centers that provide educational resources and assistance to guests, along with extensive employee training programs designed to identify and support at-risk behaviors. It also includes voluntary self-exclusion mechanisms, enabling players to limit or suspend their participation, and public education initiatives developed in collaboration with local communities to promote awareness and responsible play.
“Responsible gaming is central to our operations,” said CEO Walt Power. “We aim to ensure every guest enjoys entertainment in a safe, transparent and socially responsible environment. By aligning our standards with international best practices, we are proud to contribute positively to the responsible development of Vietnam’s tourism and leisure industries.”
Describing its addition to the pilot program as an important step in the government’s efforts to modernize Vietnam’s tourism sector and strengthen regulatory oversight over gaming activities, Power added that Ho Tram will operate under strict government supervision and implement comprehensive safeguards to ensure safe and transparent participation. These include government-mandated entry controls, responsible gaming programs and social protection measures aligned with the principles of responsible entertainment.
“We are honored to contribute, in a small way, to the Government of Vietnam’s vision for sustainable economic prosperity through a responsibly managed entertainment and tourism sector,” Power said.
“This pilot program provides an opportunity to demonstrate how integrated resorts can contribute to national tourism development, local employment and economic growth while maintaining strict compliance, transparency and integrity.”
Along with Ho Tram’s addition to the pilot program, Phu Quoc’s Corona Resort & Casino – which previously took part in the pilot – has been granted permanent locals status. A third resort in Van Don has also been named as part of the pilot program despite having not even broken ground yet, with opening tentatively slated for 2032.
