Hong Kong-listed Emperor Entertainment Hotel Limited saw group-wide revenue decline by 17.7% year-on-year to HK$335.6 million (US$43.2 million) for the six months to 30 September 2025, including a 29.7% drop in gaming revenue to HK$177.9 million (US$22.9 million) at Macau’s Grand Emperor Hotel. The company did not offer a reason for the decline in gaming revenue during its last full six months of casino operations – the satellite casino closed on 31 October – other than citing a “volatile operating environment”.
It did, however, record a narrowed loss of HK$73.1 million (US$9.4 million) compared with the HK$225.7 million (US$29.0 million) loss a year earlier due to a substantial gain on fair value changes of investment properties.
In its hotels and leasing segment, where the company operates a hotel and three apartment blocks in Hong Kong plus two hotels in Macau, revenue increased very slightly for the period to HK$157.7 million (US$20.3 million) .
Emperor E announced last month that it was ceasing satellite casino operations at Grand Emperor, operated under the license of SJM, as of 31 October 2025.
In comments accompanying its results release, the company stated, “In view of the termination of the gaming operation in Grand Emperor Hotel with effect from 31 October 2025, the Group has been actively planning other entertainment and amusement facilities in order to enhance the hospitality experience and broaden the revenue base.”
On future prospects, it added, “In the meantime, the Macau government’s initiatives to transform the city into a diversified tourist destination are gradually bearing fruit. With various favourable policies such as implementation of multiple-entry permits, enhancement of cross border arrangements, and promotion of cross boundary tourism, the number of visitor arrivals to Macau increased by 16.2% to 19.8 million during the Period.
“Going forward, in addition to the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong markets, the Macao Government Tourism Office will undertake efforts to expand the international market, especially by focusing on regions with high potential such as the Middle East and India. In view of the government’s directives and the increasing convenience of transportation networks around the globe, the Group remains optimistic about the prospects for Macau’s tourism sector and will continue enhancing its service offerings to capture the business opportunities.”
