Amid the flurry of recent and pending satellite casino closures across Macau, Melco Resorts (Macau) Limited announced Tuesday that its Mocha Hotel Royal will also cease operations at 11:59pm on Sunday 28 December 2025.
This will be the third of Melco’s Mocha clubs to close down. The company announced in June its plan to close three Mocha clubs – Mocha Hotel Royal, Mocha Kuong Fat and Mocha Golden Dragon – with Mocha Kuong Fat ceasing operations in September and Mocha Golden Dragon in mid-November.
As with all of its previous announcements, Melco stated that the closing procedures for Mocha Hotel Royal will be implemented in compliance with Macao SAR law and that the company continues to work in close collaboration with the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) to ensure that all parts of the closing procedures are completed in an orderly manner.
“All electronic gaming machines at the Mocha Hotel Royal will be reallocated to Melco’s other Casinos in the Macao SAR, as approved by the DICJ,” it said.
The company also emphasized that safeguarding local employees’ employment is a top priority.
“Melco’s local employees currently at the Mocha Hotel Royal will be reassigned to continue performing their duties at other casinos and gaming areas operated by Melco in the Macao SAR according to Melco’s operational needs, ensuring a smooth transition and the continuity of their employment,” it stated.
Customers of the Mocha Hotel Royal will be able to continue to use their gaming slips (TITO) at the Altira Casino, Mocha Inner Harbor, Mocha Golden Dragon and Mocha Sintra Hotel.
The latest closure news comes a day after Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance, Tai Kin Ip, revealed that approximately 1,600 employees from six closed satellite casinos have been reassigned to other properties of their respective concessionaires.
