The director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, said she expects the 72nd Macau Grand Prix, commencing Thursday, to draw around 500,000 visitors to Macau.
In an interview, Senna Fernandes stated that the recent convergence of multiple events will draw more visitors to Macau and boost hotel occupancy rates.
She anticipates that the four-day Grand Prix will generate a total of 500,000 visitor arrivals while revealing that hotel occupancy rates have further increased thanks to the National Games, which launched over the weekend.
“Due to the National Games, Macau’s recent hotel occupancy has been very favorable, reaching nearly 90%,” she said.
Senna Fernandes also noted that during the National Games period, Macau’s daily visitor volume has averaged around 90,000 to 100,000, aligning with the government’s earlier projections. She anticipates that visitor numbers may increase this weekend.
The 72nd Macau Grand Prix commences today and will run for four consecutive days, featuring seven races in total. Additionally, the 15th National Games are concurrently hosting multiple events in Macau, including the highly anticipated table tennis competition.
Macau’s six concessionaires have sponsored both the Grand Prix and the National Games, also providing competition venues for the National Games.
