SkyCity Entertainment Group has confirmed the renewal of its Queenstown casino license for another 15 years.
In a statement issued early Tuesday, the company said the New Zealand Gambling Commission has granted SkyCity Queenstown Limited with the renewal of its casino venue licence, effective from 7 December 2025.
“We’re delighted with this outcome,” said SkyCity CEO, Jason Walbridge. “We look forward to continuing to play our part in Queenstown’s fantastic range of entertainment for both locals and visitors.”
SkyCity operates three casinos in New Zealand – flagship SkyCity Auckland plus smaller operations in Queenstown and Hamilton – as well as SkyCity Adelaide in Australia.
In the company’s FY25 financial report, it said total gaming revenue at Queenstown and Hamilton combined had reached NZ$74.2 million (US$41.9 million) including casino revenue of NZ$64.1 million (US$36.2 million). Underlying EBITDA was NZ$33.7 million (US$19.0 million).
This is the second piece of positive news for SkyCity, which last week finally took possession of the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), located alongside SkyCity Auckland.
