Macau satellite casino Legend Palace, operated by Macau Legend Development under the license of SJM Resorts, S.A., will cease operations from 12:59pm next Wednesday 12 November, the company has announced.
The closure, confirmed by SJM, Macau Legend and the Macao SAR Government, follows consultation between the parties with gaming regulator the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) to oversee the closure procedures in order to ensure a smooth and orderly process.
Following the revelation in June that all 11 remaining satellites would close by year’s end, the government said Friday that Legend Palace would become the latest property to close early with the DICJ to dispatch personnel to conduct on-site monitoring of the entire shutdown process. This ensures SJM Holdings adheres to its submitted government-approved plan for concluding operations at the satellite venue, as well as the orderly and proper handling of cash and chips within the casino.
SJM said customers holding chips, deposits or cash rebates accumulated at Legend Palace may visit other casinos operated by SJM Resorts from 13 November 2025 onwards for follow-up arrangements. All customer entitlements would be duly honored, it said.
The DICJ said it will maintain close liaison with the Labour Affairs Bureau to ensure SJM Holdings strictly fulfils its commitment to properly reallocate Legend Palace’s 296 employees according to the previously submitted plan. This includes safeguarding their remuneration, benefits and working conditions while providing redeployment opportunities to secure their continued employment.
Macau Legend had indicated in a report published in early October that it would consider prematurely ceasing operations at Legend Palace.
All satellite casinos in Macau are scheduled to cease operations by 31 December, though several have already announced early closures.
Following the closure of Grandview Casino on 31 July, Casino Emperor Palace shut its doors on 30 October. The two satellite casinos belonging to Galaxy Entertainment Group and Melco Resorts have also closed.
With the announcement of Legend Palace’s closure, the remaining satellite casinos under SJM that have not yet closed are Casa Real Casino, Casino Fortuna, Kam Pek Paradise Casino and Landmark Casino.
SJM has previously outlined its intention to acquire Ponte 16 and L’Arc to make them wholly-owned operations.
