Macau’s Public Security Police Force expects to see over 1.2 million visitors arrive during this year’s eight-day National Day Golden Week holiday.
The National Day holiday will this year be combined with the Mid-Autumn Festival, resulting in a total of eight consecutive days off from 1 to 8 October. Multiple departments, including the Public Security Police Force (PSP), Customs and the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), held a joint press conference on Monday to outline arrangements for Golden Week.
PSP analysis indicates Macau is expected to receive 1.2 million visitor arrivals during the eight-day period, averaging 150,000 arrivals daily. Peak arrival days are forecast for 3 and 4 October.
Regarding border crossings, PSP said it anticipates 5.6 to 6 million entries and exits over the eight-day period, averaging approximately 700,000 to 750,000 per day.
During the 2024 National Day Golden Week, Macau welcomed 993,117 visitors, representing a 1.9% increase compared to 2019. The daily average stood at approximately 141,873 visitors, marking a roughly 2% rise from the 2019 daily average of 139,191.
Meanwhile, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes indicated in a Monday interview that hotel occupancy is expected to remain robust throughout the National Day holiday period.
She further disclosed that Macau’s hotel occupancy rates have maintained elevated levels in recent months, averaging close to 90% with weekends exceeding 90%.
