Driven by the summer holiday travel peak season, Macau’s total visitor arrivals in July increased by 14.5% year-on-year and 19.6% month-on-month, reaching 3,458,366 and recovering to 97.9% of the level achieved in July 2019.
Visitors from mainland China remained the main source of inbound tourists, increasing by 17.4% year-on-year to 2,563,212 (74.1% of the total). Among those, visitors from Zhuhai saw a year-on-year increase of 56.8%, driving a 23.0% rise in visitors from the nine cities of the Guangdong Province’s nine Pearl River Delta cities to 1,225,642.
Hong Kong visitors reached 625,343 (18.1% of the total), up 6.2% year-on-year, while visitors from Taiwan reached 92,037, up 21.4% year-on-year.
In July, international visitors totaled 177,774 (5.1% of the total) up 2.8% year-on-year.
Among them, Philippines visitors accounted for the highest proportion of international visitors at 37,912 but the number of arrivals decreased by 11.8% year-on-year. South Korea visitors reached 32,288, a decrease of 1.6% year-on-year. However, visitors from the United States increased by 6.2% year-on-year to 15,796.
Analyzed by checkpoint, approximately 2,881,243 visitor arrivals entered Macau by land in July, accounting for 83.3% of the total. There were also 323,296 by sea, accounting for 9.3%; and 253,827 by air, accounting for 7.3%.
The number of same-day visitors in July was 1,980,732 (57.3% of the total), and the number of overnight visitors was 1,477,634 (42.7% of the total), representing increases of 24.1% and 3.7% respectively compared to the same period last year. The average length of stay was 1.2 days, unchanged from the previous year.
For the first seven months of 2025 combined, the total number of inbound visitors was 22,676,906, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.9%. Same-day visitors numbered 13,163,645 (58.0% of the total), and overnight visitors numbered 9,513,261 (42.0% of the total), representing increases of 25.5% and 2.8%, respectively.
Due to the rise in the proportion of same-day visitors, the cumulative average length of stay decreased by 0.1 days to 1.1 days year-on-year.
