Australian racing and wagering operator Tabcorp has launched a new multilingual sports betting platform via its TAB App, allowing customers to view the product in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Vietnamese alongside its traditional English language offering.
The multilingual offering is described as a first for Australia’s booming sports betting industry, offering the ability to switch between languages and soon the ability to view all form, odds and information in customers’ language of choice.
TAB General Manager of Trading Dave Beirne said the upgrade would make the App easier to consume for customers.
“We’ve got a growing base of customers whose first language is not English and this upgrade will make placing a bet so much easier for them,” Beirne explained.
“A key part of our digital transformation has been to make using our products simpler and this is another step on that journey.
“We know wagering is popular throughout Asia and creating a multilingual proposition that breaks down language barriers certainly makes it more appealing for customers who have English as an additional language.
“Expanding the functionality to more languages is certainly something we will look at in time.”
TAB General Manager of Technology Michael Ristuccia said the upgrade highlighted the technological transformation and capability of the evolved TAB App.
“This was a cross-enterprise project between technology, trading and product. We used our modern suite of mobile software to build context aware widgets so our App adapts seamlessly to each language,” he said.
“Translations were certified through official translators and enriched by custom-built AI, enabling us to deliver accurate, context-aware language experiences.
“Now we know the technology works well, we can look to expand it into other areas of our customer offering.”
