Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau has been awarded LEED for Operations and Maintenance (O+M) Gold Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), becoming the first hotel in Macau to receive this award.
The award ceremony was held at Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau on Tuesday, opening with a networking reception followed by speeches from Andy To – Managing Director of USGBC and Green Business Certification Institute (GBCI) North Asia – and Rutger Verschuren, the Area Vice President, Macau and Hengqin for Artyzen Hospitality Group and General Manager of Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau.

In his speech, To noted that balancing environmental considerations with guest experiences is a significant challenge, particularly in the hotel industry.
“In a city where tradition and transformation are in constant dialogue, Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau offers a rare and powerful statement: that cultural legacy and environmental responsibility are not opposing forces, but natural partners,” he said.
“Rooted in a distinct architectural and emotional history, Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau has embraced the rigor of sustainable operations while honoring the soul of Macau’s heritage.”

Verschuren added, “This recognition marks a meaningful milestone in our ongoing sustainability journey.
“As a hotel deeply rooted in Macau’s heritage, we are proud to contribute to the city’s green development goals and to show that cultural preservation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.”
LEED is the world’s most widely used green building rating system, developed by the USGBC. The LEED O+M certification specifically assesses how existing buildings are operated and maintained across key areas such as energy efficiency, water usage, indoor air quality, waste management and overall occupant experience.
