Six government departments including Macau police agencies held a large-scale drill in partnership with SJM Resorts on Wednesday in which they simulated a bomb threat and armed robbery at a casino.
The exercise, named “Wolf Capture 2025”, involved the Unitary Police Service, Macau Customs, Public Security Police Force, Judiciary Police, Fire Services Bureau and the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) and was held at Grand Lisboa Palace in Cotai.
Wolf Capture 20205 simulated separate incidents at two locations operated by SJM, including a bomb threat and an armed robbery. Police established an on-site command center to respond to the incidents, ultimately apprehending the “suspects” and resolving the crisis.
In the simulated bomb threat exercise, a criminal group falsely claimed to have placed a bomb in a hotel shopping mall under SJM’s jurisdiction in the central district of Macau, demanding a ransom of HK$100 million (US$12.7 million) in cryptocurrency. SJM immediately contacted the police to resolve the crisis.
The other exercise took place inside the casino at Grand Lisboa Palace, where four “criminals” entered the premises, robbed gamblers and guests, and injured several people with knives or caused them to fall. Simultaneously, the criminals were simulated to be holding a bomb and two hostages, hiding in a break room within the casino. The police deployed special operations units, crisis negotiation teams and other personnel, ultimately subduing the criminals.
The exercise lasted one hour and involved approximately 209 personnel. The police noted that under the guidance of relevant department leaders and through the collaborative efforts of personnel from SJM and other participating departments, the entire exercise proceeded smoothly and achieved its intended objectives.
