The annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) gets underway in Las Vegas today, with a record 100 bracelet events on offer to the thousands of players who will travel from across the world.
Running from 27 May until 16 July at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, the famous poker festival will begin with the US$1,000 Mystery Millions event which will see two players awarded a guaranteed cash prize of US$1 million – the tournament winner and one lucky player who will claim a US$1 million bounty.
Other significant events during the first week of the 2025 WSOP include the US$25,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em Championship, the $10,000 Mystery Bounty No-Limit Hold’em and the US$25,000 High Roller PLO/NLH Mix.
The 2025 WSOP Main Event kicks off on 2 July and will feature four Day 1 flights with the final table running over two days on 15 and 16 July. Last year’s Main Event broke all previous records with 10,112 players forking out the US$10,000 entry fee to create a US$94 million prize pool (after registration fees were taken out).
The 2025 WSOP is the first since NSUS Group Inc, owner of global online poker site GGPoker, acquired the World Series of Poker brand from Caesars Entertainment, Inc via a US$500 million deal.
Caesars has retained the rights to continue hosting the annual WSOP live tournament series at its Las Vegas casinos for the next 20 years and this year’s schedule follows a similar format to previous years.
