Long-time executive Tan Hee Teck will at the end of the month retire as CEO of Genting Singapore and Resorts World at Sentosa Pte Ltd, the company has announced.
Genting Group chair Lim Kok Thay will assume the role of Acting CEO of Genting Singapore, while Ms Lee Shi Ruh, the current President of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), will become the property’s Chief Executive Officer.
In a statement, Genting Singapore revealed that Tan had made a personal decision to retire from all of his executive and board roles held in the group as of 31 May 2025, although he will remain in a support role to ensure a smooth leadership transition until 30 November.
“It has been an incredible honor to be part of Genting Singapore for over 20 years,” he said. “I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, especially introducing RWS to the world, and now beginning its exciting transformation into RWS 2.0.
“As I approach my 70th birthday, I look forward to a new chapter where I can devote time to pursue my interests and do more in giving back to society. I would like to express my immense gratitude to my management team and 7,300 colleagues for this extraordinary ride of my life – it was only through their dedication and strong support that we have been able to achieve all that we did. My legacy will be leaving behind a team that is incredibly talented, passionate and well-positioned for the road ahead, especially to drive the transformation of RWS into a global tourism icon.”
Genting Singapore explained that Lim, who is also its Executive Chairman, will assume the role of Acting CEO from 1 June 2025 with Ms Lee taking over as CEO of RWS on the same day. She has served as RWS President since September 2023 and will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations, financial affairs and strategy development for the property. She will also remain in her role as the Chief Financial Officer of the company.
“The appointments of Tan Sri Lim and Ms Lee ensure a smooth transition and handover from Mr Tan, and continuity in the leadership and management of the company and RWS,” Genting Singapore said in its announcement.
