The Macau SAR Government, together with the city’s six concessionaires, will support a digitalization support service for 1,500 Macau enterprises from the retail, catering and lifestyle service sectors, with a view to assisting SMEs in their digital transformation.

The program is called “SME Digitalization Support Services 2025” and was launched at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic although initially only the government invested in the program.

Since last year, two Macau concessionaires have participated, while this year’s program involves the participation of all six concessionaires.

At a press conference, Macau Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) deputy director Chan Chou Weng said the amount of money invested by the concessionaires was “considerable”, while the government’s budgeted contribution was around MOP$19 million (US$2.4 million). However, he did not disclose the subsidy amounts of the six concessionaires.

This year’s program will be open to Macau SMEs in the retail, food and beverage, and lifestyle services sectors, with applications to be accepted in two phases in June and November for a total of 1,500 support quotas.

The program will be divided into two parts: one to provide training courses on digital business awareness and assessment of business model reform proposals, the other to provide enterprises with relevant digital systems and solutions with a maximum value of MOP$18,000 (US$2,250) for eligible enterprises.
