Macau recorded a total of 3,147,184 visitor arrivals in February, down 4.4% year-on-year, with the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) pointing out that the decline was mainly due to the high comparison base against the previous year driven by the eight-day Chinese New Year holiday in mainland China.
As a result, visitor arrivals from the mainland fell 6.4% year-on-year to 2,291,662 arrivals. There were also 579,843 arrivals from Hong Kong, down 4.7%, and 67,951 arrivals from Taiwan, up 14.4% over the same month last year.
International arrivals in February totaled 207,728, an increase of 17.9% year-on-year. Of those, Korea accounted for 59,330 arrivals, up 41.8% year-on-year, followed by the Philippines with 38,847 arrivals, down 2.5%.
