The 2025 IPL runs from 21 March to 25 May, comprising a total of 74 matches. Defending champions the Kolkata Knight Riders will defend their title against the top teams in India and featuring the best T20 players from across the globe.

The player auction took place in November and for the first time in Indian cricket history was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, highlighting the growing global popularity of the tournament beyond India.

Across two days of bidding, several massive transfers took place including:

  • Shreyas Iyer joined Punjab Kings for a record Rs 26.75 crore (US$3.10 million) and was appointed team captain
  • Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history after being bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27.00 crore (US$3.13 million)
  • Venkatesh Iyer returned to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore (US$2.75 million), completing the top three most expensive players of the season

Another record at the IPL 2025 auction was related to a player’s age. Rajasthan Royals signed the youngest athlete in the league’s history in 13-year-old batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi for Rs 1.10 crore (US$127,500).

It is also worth noting that Heinrich Klaasen, brand ambassador of 1xBet, became the most expensive player on retainer, breaking Virat Kohli’s record at Rs 23 crore (US$2.67 million).

In the upcoming IPL 2025 cricket season, 1xBet is launching the Indian League Carnival sports tournament with a record prize pool of Rs 1 crore in real money. • 3rd place – Rs 20,000 (US$232)

At each stage, players can win cash prizes ranging from Rs 2,900 to Rs 29,000 (US$34 to US$336), based on their position in the standings. The money earned in the Indian League Carnival tournament can be withdrawn at any time as it doesn’t require wagering.
