According to latest data from the Macau Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), the number of full-time employees in the gaming industry at the end of the fourth quarter of 2024 was 52,971, an increase of 1,200 year-on-year.
The salary of full-time employees in the gaming industry has also risen. With the average monthly salary of full-time employees in the gaming industry in December reaching MOP$26,890 (US$3,360), a year-on-year increase of 6.3%.
This included the average salary for dealers rising by 2.9% as the number of dealers increased by 259 dealers, or 1.1%, to 23,618. The DSEC pointed out that the increase was mainly due to salary revision and an increase in working hours.
As for the broader gaming industry, there were a total of 253 job vacancies at the end of the fourth quarter, a year-on-year decrease of 147, with more clerks being hired, followed by managers and administrators. In terms of hiring requirements, 64.8% of the vacancies required working experience, while 62.5% required only a high school diploma or below.
The number of new hires and departures in the gaming industry in the fourth quarter was 1,148 and 812 respectively, representing an employment rate of 2.2% at a slight year-on-year increase of 0.2 percentage points.
The employee turnover rate of 1.5% and the vacancy rate of 0.5% decreased by 0.1 and 0.3 percentage points respectively. The figures reflect that some vacancies in the gaming industry have been filled, the DSEC explained.
