Macau’s gross gaming revenues came in at MOP$19.7 billion (US$2.46 billion) in February, up 6.8% year-on-year despite a slightly disappointing Chinese New Year Golden Week holiday.
According to information from the Gaming Inspection Coordination Bureau (DICJ), February’s GGR result was also 8.2% higher than January, when gaming revenues reached MOP$18.3 billion (US$2.28 billion).
For the first two months of 2025 combined, GGR hit MOP$38.0 billion (US$4.74 billion) – up 0.5% compared with the same period last year.
The February result comes after operators reported during recent earnings calls strong post-CNY demand which helped soften the blow from a slower than expected holiday period.
Nevertheless, industry analysts have been lowering their Macau FY25 GGR forecasts in the wake of CNY, with Seaport Research Partners recently estimating that Golden Week GGR across the eight-day holiday period came in at around MOP$6.24 billion (US$778 million) at a daily average of MOP$780 million (US$97.2 million), down 1% year-on-year and 8% lower than CNY in 2019.
