After an absence of nearly five years, popular residency show The House of Dancing Water (HODW) at City of Dreams will return to Macau in May with a brand-new show.
First staged in September 2010 and running around 4,000 performances over the next decade, HODW was temporarily closed in June 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Melco explained at the time that the show would be “re-imagined”, originally planning for a 2021 return before circumstances deemed a quick turnaround was unfeasible.
Five years later, Melco held a press conference at Morpheus at City of Dreams on Thursday to announce the show’s long-awaited return in May.
Boasting a team of nearly 300 cast, crew and behind-the-scenes personnel, the re-imagined production will feature a 270-degree circular performance theater with a cutting-edge technological pool stage in the center and a water-powered elevator that will be utilized in conjunction with a sophisticated lighting and sound system, the company explained.
The new-look HODW is designed by Peparini Studios Artistic Director Giuliano Peparini and produced by Our Legacy Creations. It will retain original content but with a new narrative format that Melco explained is more relevant to the current artistic context.
