Driven by the Chinese New Year Golden Week holiday, visitor arrivals in January 2025 increased by 27.4% year-on-year to 3,646,561.
According to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), this included visitor arrivals from mainland China increasing by 33.8% year-on-year to 2,750,284 in January, while arrivals from Hong Kong increased by 5.8% to 577,983 and from Taiwan by 28.8% to 77,163.
International arrivals in January totaled 241,131, up 21% year-on-year. Korea accounted for the largest number of international arrivals, with 65,659 – up 29.9% year-on-year, followed by the Philippines with 48,499, representing a 42.2% increase. Visitor arrivals from the United States grew by 13.2% to 12,367.
Among the arrivals in January, same-day visitors grew by 45.6% to 2,155,279 while overnight visitors rose 7.9% to 1,491,282. The average length of stay of visitors was 1.0 days – 0.2 days shorter than the same period last year.
By arrival checkpoint, there were a total of 2,987,663 arrivals by land, accounting for 81.9% of the total, another 385,015 arrivals by sea, accounting for 10.6%, and 273,883 arrivals by air, accounting for 7.5%.
