The operator of Macau International Airport (MIA) says it expects to welcome 8.5 million passengers in 2025, aided by a continued increase in flights to and from Japan and Korea. This will include two new weekly flights between Macau and Cheongju, Korea from April, according to Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM).
In 2024, Macau International Airport’s passenger capacity exceeded 7.64 million and the number of flight movements exceeded 59,000. Total airport revenue amounted to MOP$1.48 billion (US$184 million), a year-on-year increase of 5.1% and recovering to 81% of 2019’s total revenue.
As of end-2024, a total of 27 airlines operated at MIA, flying a total of 41 domestic and international routes, including flights to 23 cities in mainland China, three in Taiwan and 15 across Southeast and Northeast Asian routes and other regions.
The number of private business jet passengers reached 5,079, with 957 movements, a year-on-year growth of 3.68%, CAM said.
The anticipated 8.5 million passengers in 2025 is expected to come from 65,000 flights, while 113,000 tons of cargo is also forecast to arrive. The number of private flights is seen reaching 5,079 with private business jets expected to reach 1,100 flight movements in 2025, up 15%.
The director of CAM’s Marketing Department, Eric Fong, said the airport will continue to introduce preferential policies for international flights this year in order to encourage airlines to operate specific routes and attract more international passengers.
