Macau’s visitor arrivals reached 2,832,041 in November, up 9.6% year-on-year but down 9.7% compared to October. Arrivals recovered to 97.3% of the same period in 2019.
According to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), visitor arrivals in November were dominated by those from mainland China, up by 11% year-on-year to 1,965,651, followed by visitors from Hong Kong at 554,053 arrivals, down 0.8% year-on-year. Arrivals from Taiwan grew by 29.3% to 71,280.
International arrivals in November totaled 241,057, up 20.9% year-on-year, 13.5% month-on-month and 7% over the same period in 2019. The Philippines led the way, with a 22% year-on-year increase to 48,641 arrivals, followed by Korea with a 61.1% increase to 48,594 arrivals. Visitor arrivals from the United States also increased by 18.3% year-on-year to 16,218.
By mode of arrivals, those entering Macau by land increased by 10.3% year-on-year to 2,268,471 in November while sea arrivals increased by 0.4% to 312,614 and air arrivals by 16.5% to 250,956.
Arrivals for the first 11 months of 2024 totaled 31,888,313, up 26.2% year-on-year and back to 87.8% of the same period in 2019. International visitor arrivals totaled 2,130,891, up 74.5% year-on-year and equal to 75.8% for the same period in 2019.
