Macau’s average hotel occupancy reached 94.5% during the recent Golden Week holiday period, representing a 6.7 percentage point increase over the same period in 2023.

This, according to figures releases by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), included peak occupancy of 98.5 on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 October.

Likewise, the average room rate of Macau’s hotels was MOP$1,861, up 4% from the same period last year.

As previously reported by IAG, Macau welcomed a record 993,117 visitors during the week-long National Day Golden Week holiday, an increase of 1.9% over 2019 and 7.5% higher than during the eight-day Golden Week in 2023. Both the volumes of average daily and single-day visitor arrivals in Macau reached the highest records for National Day holidays ever since there were official statistics, the MGTO added.

Providing some color on the practical implications for businesses, it revealed the Macao Grand Prix Museum welcomed 8,558 visitors over the seven-day holiday including 3,386 visitors on Tuesday 1 October, the highest single-day record since its inauguration.
