Philippine gaming regulator PAGCOR will receive the first batch of almost 2,000 slot machines under a modernization program for its Casino Filipino venues as early as next week.
The agency’s Chairman and CEO, Alejandro Tengco, provided an update to privatization plans during a Keynote Address at the IAG Academy Summit on Tuesday, revealing the imminent arrival of 1,968 slot machine units in mid-September. PAGCOR had previously announced the order of a total 3,341 units aimed at bringing the slot machine offering at Casino Filipino venues up to the same quality as those in the country’s integrated resorts.
“As we prepare for the planned privatization of PAGCOR casinos, we intend to increase their value by modernizing our gaming facilities and equipment to make them more attractive to potential investors,” Chairman Tengco said.
“We expect that in the first batch of close to 2,000 slot machines we will be able to bring a new dimension to our different Casino Filipino properties all over the Philippines.”
It is hoped, the chairman added, that the modernization will lead to an increase in overall customer traffic and profitability, with the privatization process itself slated to start in early 2026.
Efforts to upgrade Casino Filipino venues comes with a. number of new integrated resort openings planned over the coming years in Manila, Clark and Cebu, among other locations.
