The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said Monday that Macau had welcomed 2.40 million visitor arrivals between 1 and 25 July at an average of 95,979 today – an increase of 9.5% over the same period last year and back to 85.6% of the same period in 2019. The current July figure includes a monthly high of 135,575 arrivals on 20 July.
According to the provisional data, visitor arrivals since the start of the year have reached 19.1 million, up 38.2% year-on-year, of which around 1.31 million were internationals visitor arrivals, up 126.6%.
The MGTO said that international visitors have recorded a significant growth over the past year, with a series of events planned for the second half of 2024 including gift giveaways to further encourage international arrivals.
According to official information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), Macau welcomed more than 16 million visitor arrivals in the first half of the year, a 43.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023, while the number of international tourists visiting Macau was nearly 1.17 million, a 146.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
