Macau’s fourth cross-sea bridge, the Macau Bridge, is expected to open to traffic during the third quarter of 2024, according to the Macau Directorate of Public Works Services (DSOP).
Construction of the bridge began in March 2020 and it has taken nearly four years to complete. The total length of the bridge is about 3.1 kilometers, of which the sea-crossing section is 2.9 kilometers, with eight lanes car lanes and two lanes in the middle for motorcycles.
The Macau Bridge starts from the east side of Macau New Reclamation A and the artificial island of the HZMB Boundary Crossing Facilities and ends at Macau New Reclamation E1.
According to the latest news from DSOP, overall construction has been basically completed, and the subsequent commissioning, acceptance and handover works are in order.
Upon commissioning, the bridge is expected to effectively relieve traffic pressure on the three existing bridges and enhance the traffic capacity between Macau Peninsula to the north and Taipa and Coloane to the south.
