The number of international visitor arrivals to Vietnam grew by 58.4% year-on-year to more than 8.8 million in the first six months of 2024, including almost 2 million from China thanks to the continued recovery of Chinese tourism post-COVID.

According to information from General Statistics Office, South Korea remains Vietnam’s largest source market with 2.28 million arrivals between 1 January and 30 June – up 42.4% compared with the same period in 2023. However, China continues to rebound strongly with 1.89 million mainland visitors and another 630,000 from Taiwan. Other leading source markets included the USA with more than 415,000 arrivals in 1H24, Japan with nearly 336,000 arrivals, Malaysia with 254,000 arrivals, Australia with 243,000 arrivals and India with 239,000 arrivals.

According to local media outlet VietnamNet, it is projected that the number of international tourists to Vietnam will increase by 40% in 2024, with stronger growth expected from October onwards.

The total number of visitors to Vietnam in June grew by 28.1% to more than 1.2 million.
