Speaking at the opening ceremony of Melco’s Studio City Cinema on Tuesday, Kevin Benning, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Studio City, said the cinema’s launch underlines Melco’s efforts to support and promote the development of a diversified economy in Macau.
The opening ceremony was attended by multiple government officials and dignitaries, among them Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes and Director of Cultural Affairs Deland Leong Wai Man.
Melco representatives included Benning, Chief Advisor Dr Kent Wong, Director Clarence Chung, and Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Chairman and CEO Akiko Takahashi.
Melco also held a screening ceremony of Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, which has already surpassed HK$100 million at the Hong Kong box office, and invited Hong Kong celebrities Louis Koo, Richie Jen and Raymond Lam, as well as actor Tony Wu and actress German Cheong to the screening.
“The opening of the Studio City Cinema underlines the company’s efforts in enriching Macau’s entertainment landscape and supporting the city’s economic diversification,” said Benning.
“As the home to the first Dolby Cinema in Macau and Hong Kong, Studio City Cinema is thrilled to deliver the most extraordinary cinematic experiences to citizens, tourists and movie enthusiasts alike. The state-of-the-art cineplex will elevate our guest movie-going experience, immersing audiences and connecting them with cinematic works for very best in cutting-edge entertainment.”
The most distinctive feature of Melco’s Studio City Cinema is its Dolby theatre, which is the first cinema in either Macau or to introduce the combination of Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. It is the largest theater in the Studio City Cinema, with a seating capacity of 338.
The whole complex has nine theatres with a total of 770 seats, including five VIP theaters and one double theater with exclusive connecting seats.
