The Macau SAR government’s revenue from gaming tax amounted to a combined MOP$29.9 billion (US$3.7 billion) for the first four months of 2024, an increase of 98.2% compared with the same period last year, according to information from the Financial Services Bureau (DSF).
This included MOP$7.94 billion (US$986 million) in April, up from MOP$7.13 billion (US$883 million) in March.
The April figure reflects Macau’s gross gaming revenue from the month of March, with the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau having previously reported March GGR of MOP$19.50 billion (US$2.42 billion).
The Macau SAR government has estimated that gaming tax revenue for FY24 will be around MOP$83.6 billion (US$10.4 billion), while the budget execution rate from January to April currently stands at 35.7%.
The government’s total revenue for the first four months of this year amounted to MOP$35.8 billion (US$4.47 billion), a year-on-year increase of 41%, with the special gaming tax from concessionaires accounting for 83% of the total.
Total expenditure stands at MOP$24.3 billion (US$3.03 billion), a year-on-year increase of about 9.5%.
After the first four months, the government’s central account balance has grown by MOP$12.3 billion (US$1.53 billion), a year-on-year increase of nearly 300%.
