Subdued April for Grand Korea Leisure as casino revenue falls by 20%

South Korean foreigner-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) saw its roller-coaster start to 2024 continue in April, with casino revenue falling by 28.9% year-on-year and 19.7% month-on-month to KRW32.4 billion (US$23.5 million).

Having previously seen revenues climb by almost 20% in March, GKL’s April result included a 21.2% sequential decline in table game revenue to KRW29.4 billion (US$21.3 million), while machine revenue was only slightly down by 1.8% to KRW3.0 billion (US$2.2 million). Table drop for the month was largely flat compared to March but up 7.8% year-on-year to KRW319.4 billion (US$232 million).

For the first four months of 2024 combined, GKL’s casino revenue is down 17.7% year-on-year to KRW126.1 billion (US$91.5 million) while table drop is up 17.6% to KRW1.24 trillion (US$900 million).

GKL operates three casinos in South Korea and Seoul and Busan under the Seven Luck brand.
