The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has reported gaming revenues of Php61.5 billion (US$1.07 billion) in 2023, representing a 7% year-on-year increase compared with revenues of Php57.5 billion (US$1.0 billion) in 2022. It was also 40% higher than the 2019 revenue figure, highlighting the lottery’s full post-pandemic recovery.
According to information released this week, the 2023 figure included Php31.4 billion (US$548 million) from lottery games, Php29.7 billion (US$519 million) from the small town lottery and Php344.2 million (US$6.0 million) from Instant Sweepstakes.
According to PCSO General Manager and Vice Chairman, Melquaides Robles, the improvement was a result of intensified efforts to maximize revenues.
“The banner revenue performance of our lotto and STL games means a higher allocation for the PCSO’s Charity Fund,” Robles said.
Under the PCSO’s charter, 70% of money generated goes back into the prize pool while 30% is allocated to the Charity Fund. Based on 2023’s revenues, Php18.4 billion (US$321 million) is going to the Charity Fund.
