Sands China has become the second Macau concessionaire to announce plans for a discretionary bonus, with eligible employees comprising around 99% of the company’s workforce to receive the payment – equal to a month’s salary – on 31 January. Eligible employees will also receive a salary increase from 1 March 2024.
In announcing the discretionary bonus, Sands confirmed this will be paid to non-management team members who have been with the company for one year or more. For management team members, the discretionary bonus will be paid based on the company’s Management Incentive Plan.
Those who have worked for Sands China for less than one year will receive prorated bonuses if they joined the company before 1 October 2023 and are still employed on the bonus pay out date.
The company’s salary increase will see eligible full-time team members earning monthly salaries up to MOP$13,000 MOP receive a pay rise of MOP$600, resulting in a salary increase of between 4.7% and 5.4%, while those earning monthly salaries above MOP$13,000 will receive a 2.5% pay rise.
Sands China President Dr Wilfred Wong said, “Our team members’ resilience and collective spirit have not only guided us through the trials of recent years, but also propelled us into a period of rejuvenation.
“As tourism in Macau resumed after the pandemic, it was their concerted effort that smoothly transitioned our business back to full capacity, breathing life into our spaces once again.
“In 2023, we delivered a grand celebration at The Londoner Macao, hosted a dynamic array of large-scale exhibitions and performances, expanded the Sands China Academy, and strengthened community ties through volunteer service – all milestones that you turned into reality through your unwavering dedication.
“In light of our achievements, fuelled by your dedication, we are excited to express our gratitude through the announcement of the 2023 discretionary bonus award and 2024 salary increase.”
