The 30,000-square-foot Harry Potter Exhibit at The Londoner Macao officially opened on Thursday, marking the first Asia-Pacific exhibition of Harry Potter and the most comprehensive Harry Potter exhibit globally.

The Harry Potter Expo at The Londoner Macao was created and developed by lmagine Exhibitions in partnership with Warner Bros, Discovery Global Themed Entertainment and EMCPresents. According to information from the organizers, since its premiere in the United States a year ago the exhibition has attracted over 1.7 million fans. The exhibition is also currently being held in New York and Barcelona.

The Londoner’s Harry Potter Exhibition is the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region and includes a Paper to Screen Gallery, Hogwarts Castle Gallery, the Great Hall Gallery, Hogwarts House, Hogwarts Classroom, Hagrid’s Hut and the Forbidden Forest, as well as a dedicated souvenir store.

The exhibition uses innovative technology to take visitors on a journey to significant moments in the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film series, as well as the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child.

The exhibition also features immersive design and technology, with each visitor entering the exhibition hall to be issued with a wristband allowing them to choose their own experiences.

At Thursday’s opening ceremony, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes pointed out in a speech that, “With the full resumption of customs clearance in Macau, visitor arrivals to the city have been recovering and the MGTO is pleased to see [concessionaires] organizing a variety of events and activities to bring visitors a wide range of experiences, which is conducive to opening up new sources of visitors.

“We believe this event will generate strong participation of Macau residents and visitors, thereby enhancing the overall attractiveness of Macao as a tourist destination.”

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes

Sands China Executive Vice President of Operations, Sean McCreery, added, “This exhibition brings the magic of Harry Potter to life in a way that will leave visitors in awe, and aligns perfectly with Sands China’s mission of offering unique and unforgettable experiences that resonate with our diverse audience.

“This extraordinary exhibition not only adds to Sands China’s already extensive portfolio of non-gaming offerings, but also supports the cross-sector integration initiative of the Macao Government Tourism Office – namely, ‘tourism + entertainment’.”
