Galaxy Entertainment Group held a Grand Opening Ceremony for Galaxy Macau Phase 3 on Wednesday, welcoming new facilities including Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC), Galaxy Arena, Andaz Macau and Raffles at Galaxy Macau into the fold.
The company’s Phase 3 development, which has been gradually coming online throughout the year, counts GICC, with 40,000 square meters of convention and exhibition space, and Galaxy Arena, which can accommodate up to 16,000 people, as its flagship offerings. According to Galaxy, GICC has welcomed more than 220 conventions, exhibitions, entertainment shows and sports events already in 2023.
Phase 3 also features two new internationally recognized hotel brands in Andaz Macau and Raffles Galaxy Macau, the latter being the world’s largest all-suite Raffles property. Together, the two hotels offer more than 1,100 rooms.

The opening ceremony was attended by, among others, the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Ho Hau Wah; Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lei Wai Nong; and Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ao Ieong U.
GEG Chairman Dr Lui Che Woo was also present and delivered a lengthy speech in which he stated, “GEG’s Phase 3 projects epitomize the future diversified – celebrating Macau’s new cultural and entertainment landmark. These projects also align with the Macau SAR Government’s policy address, which calls on us to foster the quality development of exhibitions and conventions combined with commerce and Macau’s establishment as a ‘City of Performing Arts’ and a ‘City of Sports.’
“We hope to support the progress of the integrated tourism and leisure industry and share the fruitful achievements of Macau’s economic diversification with all sectors of the community.”

During the opening ceremony, GEG invited more than 50 musicians from the Macao Orchestra to perform a number of classic songs, conducted by Music Director and Principal Conductor, Lio Kuok Man. Globally renowned soprano He Hui also performed.
With Galaxy Macau Phase 4 already under construction, the company said it expects the expansive fourth phase to represent a new integrated resort featuring multiple high-end hotel brands, extensive F&B and retail outlets, non-gaming amenities, landscaping and a water resort deck, alongside a 4,000-seat international music and performing-arts theater to invigorate the local arts and cultural scene.
