The Macau SAR Government, together with the city’s six concessionaires, will organize events in six old districts during the Christmas period, it announced Monday.

As previously reported by IAG, the concessionaires are responsible for the revitalization of six old districts across Macau, being the Lai Chi Vun Shipyard, Rua da Felicidade, the A-Ma area, Inner Harbour Piers 23 and 25, Avenida do Almeida Ribeiro and Rua de Cinco de Outubro, Pátio da Eterna Felicidade, Rua Das Estalagens and Surrounding Areas, Macao Cultural Center Square, as well as the Iec Long Firecracker Factory and Surrounding Area.

The events are to include special Christmas scene installations and interactive booth games set up by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) at the Lai Chi Vun Shipyard from 23 to 25 December and on 31 December, including a large-scale Christmas gatehouse and a special Christmas tree standing five meters high. Street performances will also be arranged at specific times to “create unforgettable Christmas memories” in the Lai Chi Kok Shipyard area.

Melco Resorts will also organize a number of large-scale festive installations, photo booths and light displays, including a giant twinkling bear and a seven-meter-tall Santa Claus at Mount Fortress Garden from 16 December to 1 January. During the event, Melco will feature nightly snow drifts, colorful light shows and musical performances in the area.

MGM will set up an oversized bamboo lion head in the open space opposite Oficinas Navais No.2 from 23 to 25 December and 30 to 31 December, showcasing Macau’s East-meets-West cultural fusion. Meanwhile, MGM has teamed up with local food and beverage brands to offer a “themed lighter fare”, while a Music Cruise will sail every weekend in December.

Sands China will join forces with the Macau Band Directors Association in mid-to-late December by inviting more than 230 members of the Hachioji High School Wind Orchestra from Japan, which is making its debut in Macau, as well as members of the Macau Youth Symphonic Band, to perform three one-hour themed performances at The Venetian Macao’s outdoor lagoon and at the Macau Cultural Center.

SJM will also present a light show at Avenida do Almeida Ribeiro in December. Meanwhile, a number of Christmas bazaars will be held at Ponte 16 outdoor square, featuring local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) selling arts and cultural products, creative handicrafts and festive snacks, as well as a variety of music and dance performances.

Wynn will redecorate the walking area of Rua da Felicidade, including the addition of lights and a Christmas tree. Dance, music and improv will be featured in the walking area, and a variety of festive wines and snacks will be offered. At the same time, Wynn’s Christmas-themed program at Forlorn Street will continue with a cultural and creative bazaar.
