Leading platform provider for the iGaming industry SOFTSWISS has revealed a significant jump in the number of customers of its SOFTSWISS Sportsbook using mobile phones to place bets.
According to information contained in an overview of its 3Q23 results, 80% of players betting via the SOFTSWISS Sportsbook platform did so via mobile devices, up from 65% a year earlier. The growing trend of players opting for mobile phones for betting underscores a strategic shift driven by the inherent convenience these devices offer, especially in live betting scenarios, the company explained.
By number of bets placed, football again proved to be the most popular sport for sports betting fans, followed by tennis, basketball, table tennis and baseball. Notably, however, eSports continues to provide an attractive option for operators with the average bet placed on League of Legends 37% higher compared to football.
Counter-Strike also maintained strength by ranking in the top 10 most popular disciplines by bets, the most among cybersports. These facts, SOFTSWISS said, underline the hidden potential of focusing on eSports, particularly in light of seasonality, “positioning cybersports as a potential lifesaver during the low season of traditional summer sports.”
