The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has concluded a four-day roadshow in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where it was joined by representatives of all six concessionaires. The roadshow, held from 12 to 15 October, was held with the aim of enticing Malaysian residents to choose Macau as a travel destination and expand Macau’s international visitor source markets, specifically from Southeast Asia.
Since the reopening of Macau’s borders on 8 January 2023, Southeast Asia has become a key market for foreign visitors. According to visitor arrival figures from January to August this year, Malaysia ranked ninth among Macau’s top 10 source markets, with average daily visitor arrivals from Malaysia recovering to 32.3% of the same period in 2019.
The “Experience Macau” Roadshow in Kuala Lumpur saw concessionaires and other companies set up booths to promote their tourism facilities to local residents.
Attractions and activities included a number of quizzes and interactive sessions, as well as two lucky draws each day in which winners received Macau travel prizes, including accommodation, food and beverage vouchers, and air tickets.
MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said that with the accelerated resumption of air links between Macau and Malaysia, the city is well-prepared to welcome Malaysian tourists.
“Through this roadshow, we hope to attract Malaysian residents to choose Macau as their travel destination,” said Fernandes.
MGTO has organized roadshows in multiple countries places this year, including Portugal, Thailand, Korea and mainland China.
