Macau integrated resort Studio City has announced that its new hotel W Macau – part of the property’s US$1.3 billion Phase 2 expansion – will open its doors on 8 September.
Following on from the launch of Studio City’s water park and Epic Tower in April, W Macau aims to provide a “contemporary, cutting-edge and truly immersive Macau experience,” the company explained, contrasting the old and new as well as the Chinese and Portuguese cultures that form part of the city’s heritage.
“When we think of Macau, colossal entertainment venues, vast shopping precincts, and sprawling urban resorts are top of mind,” said Adrian Chan, General Manager, W Macau –Studio City. “Our hotel offers guests a new kind of luxury that revels in bold ideas and indulges in the unexpected. Its contemporary design elevates the guest experience through signature features, iconic Whatever/Whenever service and dynamic programming to give them a fresh perspective of the city’s fascinating cultural legacy; a more contemporary way to stay.”
W Macau is designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and features 557 rooms and suites.
Amenities include bar and lounge Living Room, said to blends elements from the cinematic golden era with Macau’s nautical heritage to create an immersive visual and sensory experience, as well as a speakeasy extension called A.P.D. (A Perfect Dose) providing an exclusive space for intimate gatherings.
Blind Tiger serves as a “destination” cocktail bar while restaurants include Hawker Hawker – reflecting local marketplaces – and contemporary Cantonese restaurant DIVA.
A first glimpse of W Macau will be released this weekend by way of a trailer video featuring Chinese singer, rapper, and songwriter Lexie Liu and Hong Kong-born Singaporean singer Chau Yan Ting. The video will see the pair embark on a journey through the new hotel while unveiling W Macau – Studio City’s very own recording studio, W Sound Suite.
