The Singapore Police Force has arrested 25 people on suspicion of being involved in illegal gambling activities.
According to a statement, those involved include 13 men and 12 women aged between 31 and 76, with a 39-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman allegedly found to have acted as a gaming service provider at an industrial premise. Authorities seized SG$19,752 in cash, 11 hand phones and gaming-related paraphernalia during the operation that uncovered the activity.
Under the Gambling Control Act 2022, anyone who is found to be involved in unlawful gaming or betting operations is liable on conviction to a fine of up to SG$200,000 and a prison term of up to five years. Under the same Act, any person who gambles with an unlawful gambling service provider is liable on conviction to a fine of up to SG$10,000, and a prison term of up to six months.
“The Police take a serious view of all forms of illegal gambling activities and will continue to take tough enforcement action against those who are involved in such activities,” police said.
