Japanese pachinko hall operator Dynam Japan Holdings Co Ltd has announced long-time employee and Representative Director Akira Hosaka as its new CEO, President and Chairman of the Board at an eventful Annual General Meeting in which nine directors were elected or reelected.

The 50-year-old Hosaka replaces former CEO, President and Chairman Makoto Sakamoto, who remains on the Board but has been redesignated as a non-executive director.

According to Dynam, Hosaka first joined Dynam in April 1995 before being promoted to zone manager of Niigata zone in March 2008. In May 2016 he was promoted to head of the corporate management department and in June 2017 became a director.

Dynam said his initial term will be one year as per the company’s articles of incorporation and he will be entitled to remuneration of JPY34,548,000 (US$240,500).

Also appointed as an independent non-executive director is Ms Mayumi Ito – the CEO of E-book publishing and marketing consulting firm Epistémè LLC. Ms Ito also worked previously for HERMES JAPON Co Ltd. for 17 years from 1987, serving as the buyer in charge of first bags, the person in charge of launching the perfume division and the project leader of CRM system development, Dynam said.

Among the nine directors to be elected or reelected at Friday’s AGM was Yoji Sato, Dynam’s largest individual shareholder with a personal 34% stake. Sato’s father founded Dynam in 1967, which now operates 429 pachinko halls Japan-wide as of 31 March 2023.
