The first Macao Week tourism roadshow of 2023 was held in Qingdao, Shandong last weekend, with 200,000 people visiting and more than 130 million tuning in online, according to figures from the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO). Running across five days from 8 to 12 June, the “Macao Week in Shandong•Qingdao” roadshow also garnered over 38.747 million pageviews and post shares, the agency added.
The roadshow was held at the Olympic Sailing Centre in the Southern District of Qingdao, with several governmental entities, enterprises and businesses from Macau – including all six concessionaires – setting up around 50 booths to showcase Macau’s colorful dimensions of “tourism +”.
Two dragon dance parades and 81 stage performances also took place, while Macau singers sang Chinese and Portuguese songs. Movie appreciation was introduced to the Macao Week roadshow for the first time with 10 selected movies screened outdoors to foster exchange between the two member cities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
The MGTO said participating tourism businesses presented over RMB43 million worth of special travel offers, including air tickets, half-price hotel stay, dining specials and more.
The next Macao Weeks are expected to be held in Tianjin and Xiamen later this year, featuring an array of promotional events to introduce mainland residents to the latest information about Macau’s culture, tourism, commerce and sports as well as special travel offers.
