The number of visitors arriving in Singapore for the three months to 31 March 2023 reached 2.9 million, representing 62% of its 1Q19 visitation figure according to information from the Singapore Tourism Board.

It also exceeds the 1.5 million visitor arrivals the STB reported for the entire first half of 2022, while the average length of stay of each visitor during the March 2023 quarter grew from 3.34 days in 2019 to 3.97 days as Singapore’s COVID-19 recovery continues.

The STB has previously stated it hopes to attract between 12 million and 14 million international visitor arrivals in 2023, which would more than double the 6.3 million who arrived in 2022. There were 19.1 million arrivals in 2019.

The update comes as the STB announced a series of new tourism initiatives this week, including a SG$10 million Singapore On-screen Fund to support international media and entertainment partners in producing TV and film projects that reach global audiences and shine a spotlight on destination Singapore.

“Branded entertainment is a key focus of STB’s marketing strategy,” said Chang Chee Pey, Assistant Chief Executive of the STB’s Marketing Group .

“The Singapore On-screen Fund allows us to tap the deep storytelling expertise of global media and entertainment players in a more purposeful way, showcasing Singapore through a fresh lens as travel demand recovers.”

The STB has also signed a two-year Memorandum of Cooperation with Asia-based travel and experiences platform Klook and a separate three-year deal with Flight Centre to promote Singapore as a favorable tourism destination.
